The time has come again where we are digging out the face paint and old clothes to cut up and create our Halloween looks for 2014. For the last 2 years I have gone as a 'dead' cheerleader to my usual University night out but this year I have decided to go for a new look entirely and venture out into London with some great company for a different twist to the night! Halloween on a budget as a student can be a brilliant way to show your creativity side. This year I have managed to purchase a bargain eBay find of a costume for my skeleton look that I was hoping to achieve. I also decided that I wanted to complete the look by having half my face painted with a skull so I popped into Asda which have the BEST Halloween range when it comes to this time of year. The crayons I bought were only £1.00 a pack which is a bargain when you really don't want to spend much on a costume. In the photo's I have put a long side this blog you can see how I have done my face paint on one side (excuse the no make up the other side) along with what I want to wear for the evening. I also added a photo of a cheeky little purchase that I made today to go with our drinks for the evening. I literally could not resist these straws, from the 99p store; you really can't go wrong if they fall apart but I think I want to keep the little skeletons after to store away for another year, what do you think? What are your looks for Halloween this year? Are you going as something scary or keeping it more simple and just jazzing up your outfit? Bye for now! :) x |

Yes, another Halloween themed blog, since I am not very good at the blogging front and tend to manage to squeeze one in among my busy lifestyle I thought I would make the chance to blog twice in one day! I haven't actually been nominated to do this blog but I saw it on BeautyCrush's YouTube channel, (feel free to check out her video), and decided to do it on my Blog since I don't Vlog. I don't know enough bloggers at the moment to also nominate somebody myself so just have a go at this after you read it, it would be interesting to read about other people's Halloween favorites!
What is your favorite Halloween movie? This would have to be either The Nightmare Before Christmas OR Hocus Pocus. These are classics in my eyes. I am not very good at scary films (I still have nightmares about The Ring) unless I have a pillow or lots of people by my side so these are perfect family films. If you were in a horror movie, how far would you get? Probably not very far...I tend to scream or jump a lot at things that make me scared so I would just give the game away in an instant. One thing that really annoys me about horror movies is that people just tend to go to where the horrible noises are coming from, nah, no way, nope, never, I would just run away and scream, or do something silly like call the police, which would create more noise in the long run! What is your favorite memory of Halloween? As a child, this would have to be the time we went trick or treating in America, I cannot begin to explain how amazing this was to experience as a 10 year old! The amount of effort American's go to, to make their porches like Halloween grotto's is insane! I was very lucky to come back with what I believe to be the biggest amount of sweets I will ever see in my life in one go. I shared this experience with my brother and some family we have living over there in Virginia, Newport. As an adult, it would have to be the time my friends threw this amazing house party, the punch was just amazing and I'm pretty sure they went to great efforts to float eyeballs and jelly spiders in there. It was a great night with great company, and one night I will never forget. I definitely ended up walking home like a zombie, but that's for another time! Your best/worst Halloween costume My worst would have to be the time my Mum decided it would be classic and great to actually go as a ghost with a white sheet over me with the cut out eye holes. Yeah, I say no more. My best would have to be this year I think, I have really gone to a lot of effort to make myself look spooky this year, so hopefully I can pull it off! You can see my look for this year in my 'Halloween look' blog previous to this one. How do you get into the Halloween spirit? I tend to just try and buy Halloween things for myself all through the month of October, whether this be buying parts for my costume or generally planning what I want to do for the night which usually includes a party with friends! I haven't actually carved a pumpkin this year but I usually do that the week before Halloween and place a tea light inside to warn off those scary ghouls! Favorite Halloween Decoration? What more is there to say really, the pumpkin! It's just the classic to do before Halloween. Failing that, it would have to be those fake spider webs you get with all the little black spiders in, they make any bare room look decorated for Halloween perfectly! Name one unusual thing you are afraid of An iron. No really, not just because I won't iron, I just am scared of it. But this stems back from when I was 5 and touched an iron so I just get scared that I'm going to burn myself when they are near me, even if they are off. Vampires or Zombies? Zombies, without a doubt. I love zombie films, I actually am not scared of these type of films. I think they are funny and actually, one of my reoccurring dreams is about zombies, which is strange! Ware wolves or ghosts? Ghosts, I have never seen a ghost, not do I wish too. But I like the whole idea of people dressing up as them at Halloween, and you can get cute ghost decorations for a party! Creepy dolls or creepy clowns? Creepy clowns, dolls scare me, especially the china ones you can get. There is something about them, I think I heard a ghost story once when I was at a sleepover when I was young about them coming to life in someone's attic and it's scared me ever since. Clowns do not scare me at all so I would just laugh if one tried to come into my flat! Do you believe in ghosts? I can't answer this, just because I have never seen one. I would like to experience something because I know a few people who have, and have told me their views and stories. But for now, I guess I would have to say I just don't know. If they do exist then I would like to come back as one, one day and scare some people, that would be quite funny! I hope you liked this tag and that it didn't scare you too much, thinking about it, I think I am going to keep checking under my bed tonight...please share and comment below if you would like to see me write more tags on my blog! Bye for now! :) x Since moving to London I have appreciated those little trips back home more than anything. I love living in London and being a student at University but there is something about hopping on a train & travelling from busy city to green quiet countryside and seeing my friends & family back home.
This weekend Ash (my boyfriend) and I traveled back home to my home town in Wiltshire to surprise my Dad for his 53rd birthday! Firstly we stayed at my mum's flat. As soon as we got there I realized just how much I missed these little home comforts! It was nice to catch up with my mum again even though she was busy working most of the time and Ash and I snuggled down with a Friday night Chinese to start the weekend off. On Saturday we ventured into town to get some puddings for the surprise meal in the evening and finally decided on a strawberry cheesecake and double chocolate gateau - yum!! Later on in the day we caught the train further down the line to Dorset where we met the rest of my family waiting to hatch our plan for the surprise, when we eventually turned up at the front door my Dad was so surprised. He had only rung me the night before and I told a little white lie and said I was actually staying at Ash's for the whole weekend so he had no idea we were all turning up. I love surprising people especially when they have no clue what is going on, and I think he definitely deserved it! We were all laden with gifts, food and drinks and he certainly felt very grateful for the effort that Cheryl (his girlfriend) had taken to prepare it all with us! We had a lovely three course meal in the evening with lots of conversations, champagne, wine and Italian food which was delicious, and felt like we were in a restaurant! It was such a lovely evening and made me realize how much I miss home cooked food as well even though this went above and beyond! On Sunday morning we all woke up to the fresh smells of a full English being prepared and it was amazing, I love a good sunny Sunday morning waking up to a fulfilling breakfast surrounded by family and loved ones, it made it such a good end to a great weekend. At lunch time Ash and I caught the train back to London and I couldn't believe how quick such a good weekend had gone. I had forgotten how quiet the countryside is, especially when I woke up and felt like I could hear a pin drop. Sometimes it's nice to take a little break away from London and be able to hear yourself think without a siren or firework go off every 5 minutes, but I wouldn't change my life up here for the world, I love the hustle and bustle and the rush of life. I hope you like my little blog post on a snippet into my personal life and my first post on a weekend away on a more personal level, I will certainly be doing more of these in the future and I am glad that I can share this weekend away with you as I had such a good time and I am sure everybody else I shared it with would agree. What have you done to surprise people? What's the best surprise you have ever done to make somebody you love happy? Bye for now! :) x |
